- 7 Hotels You Must Visit in 2021
There are many ways to fly in style without costing you hundreds of thousands of euros.
Startups are getting creative at offering low-cost private flights, but airlines themselves are always arranging better deals for customers; you only have to know when and where to get them.
If you’re lucky, you may even snag a private jet flight for half the price! If you’re looking for chartered flights Bahamas but you don’t want to spend too much, you’re in the right place.
Keep on reading to learn how to fly in private without breaking the bank.
The key to getting deals is being available when they become available. It’s seldom to get great deals on your preferred dates and location. You must be flexible on when you fly to and from the Bahamas and where you fly.
We recommend calling the airline itself to ask the prices on different days. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday usually have cheaper rates than on other days of the week. Call to check on which day you can get the cheapest private jet rental costs.
You may also get better deals on a different airport that’s also near to your home.
However, make sure the costs to get on that airport won’t offset the savings you can get by flying from there. Otherwise, you’ll only be spending more time on travel.
Like for commercial flights, there are also websites comparing prices between private jet airlines. FlyVictor.com is one such example, offering a look of the cheapest chartered flights at a given time.
You can also book through these websites, which is preferable to booking at the airline’s website. Often, these sites display cheaper rates than the websites of the airlines. There’s a minimal booking fee, but read the fine print to see what else you need to pay for.
If you don’t have much time to shop around, consider hiring a broker to do the work for you.
You’ll have to pay brokers commission, though, but they’re sure to get what you’re looking for. Inform them beforehand of your budget and limits, then ask their how much their commission is before booking.
Did you know that around 40% of private flights are empty?
This is because the plane only needed to reposition or to pick up its next passengers in another location. As you would have guessed, airlines lose money in these so-called empty legs.
That’s why they made a scheme to make these empty legs worthwhile for them and the passengers.
Airlines have started offering seats in these flights with staggering discounts. Some even go as far as half the original cost to charter a plane from them. There are some that may even offer a bigger discount; after all, some money is better than no money at all.
They usually offer this information at their website, along with the prices. There are websites that allow you to set up alerts for empty legs, though, which can also help you fetch cheap jet flights.
However, there are important things you have to consider when booking empty legs. You have to be flexible, as flight plans can change any minute.
If people paying full price cancel their flights, thus affecting yours, the airline will have to cancel yours, too. If they delay their flight, the plane will get to your location later, delaying your flight, as well.
If they cancel the flight for any reason, you’ll get your refund, but you’ll have to fend for yourself afterwards. You’ll have to make hotel arrangements or book your flight back home yourself.
For these reasons, make sure your hotel and car rental reservations are flexible, too. Choose services that have no penalty for rescheduling. Make sure to have a Plan B for delays and a Plan C for cancellations.
Charter deals are also for one-way flights only. You’ll have to secure a flight back home by booking on a commercial aeroplane or by waiting for another empty leg from the Bahamas to your home to pop up.
Many airlines offer last-minute deals to fill the empty seats of aeroplanes. Private jet companies do this practice, as well. These are usually great deals as airlines would prefer having a paying customer, albeit at a discount, on-board than no one at all.
However, as we’ve stated above, you need to be flexible. JetSuite.com, for example, has next-day deals for empty legs, which means you have under a day to prepare for the flight as well as to make hotel and land arrangements.
It’s risky, but if your schedule and lifestyle allow it, you’ll get even more savings this way. You can pack your carry-on and baggage in advance if you want to be ready at all times.
You may also snag similar deals by calling the airlines themselves. Try calling a few days before your preferred date and see if they have empty legs on that day or on close dates.
There are only a few seats on chartered flights, but you’d still want to keep them all occupied.
Although some airlines may charge per seat, you’ll most likely have to still pay for the whole plane. If there are only 2 of you, you’re going to pay more than if you’d have come with a group.
You wouldn’t want to come with a group of 8 or upwards, though, if you’re looking for the cheapest flight. A group of 7 or fewer can choose a smaller aircraft that costs less to charter, resulting in significant savings.
