We did see you regained your number 1 spot, well done on that! You had very little competition until Ng On Ye came on the snooker scene… is the game better for you now you have someone to test you more on the table?

I feel I’ve always had good competition. There have been lots of good players over the years. It’s good to have Good healthy competition it keeps me on my toes.

Ng on ye has been my main rival over the last few years. There are more players (juniors too) from all over the world now pushing forward making us work harder for our titles. Which is really good for the game.

What has been your best snooker tournament outside the UK and do you enjoy travelling? 

It’s hard to choose between three events for different reasons but the tournaments I really enjoyed playing in are…

1- My first IBSF World title was in Eindhoven. It’s a really good venue and I have a lot of great memories.

2- Wuxi classic China. I got to play on Eurosport and I became the First female player to qualify for final stages of a professional event.

3- IBSF Worlds in Thailand . I won the event but that’s not why I liked the tournament, It was a really good venue set up.

It was in a great place and I really enjoyed the whole trip. We did a lot of celebrating for my win. Plenty eating and socialising. The Thai people made us feel very welcome. I really enjoy seeing different countries, I also enjoy seeing how different the events are from here in the UK! Travelling has become part of my life and I still enjoy it.

Travel is so important in sport. It’s great that you still enjoy it!

You travel to Thailand in June this year to try to get title number 12… are you all prepared and what have you been doing in regards with practising?

Yes heading back to Thailand for Women’s World Championship. I’m still hungry for more titles. So trying to my best to prepare myself for the competition. Just a lot of practice is required, a good 5 to 6 hours each day leading up to the event.

I’ve been arranging practice matches against other players but also some solo practice to work on things that I think need improving on my game.

Practise matches sound a great idea… I bet you don’t have any trouble getting people to play a game!

You recently received sponsorship from RSS Installations has that been a huge help?

RSS installations have been a massive help for me. Snooker is not a cheap sport to participate in. There’s lots of traveling expenses involved. We play all over the world, so it’s fantastic that they are willing to help and believe in me to try achieve more titles.

With the snooker calendar being so full over recent years, players are busy. You have to schedule in practice. This involves traveling too. Try and keep it with in 1h30m by car!

What’s yours and
Jason’s plans for you over the next 5 years?

Well I’m getting old now so hopefully Jason is preparing the rokit world seniors tour for me!

It’s hard to say really, with snooker it’s hard to look so far ahead. I think our plan is just to take one season at a time.

But hopefully we will get to do more exhibition style events with the legends tour again, as well as keeping on with competing.

WHOA! Some huge names. You must be so proud of yourself!

Yes definitely. Especially when I happened to have beaten a few of them! You get to see them in action close up and get tips from then which is always a Brucey bonus.

And I doubt at 33 they will accept you in the seniors… one season at a time sounds like a good plan.

What’s life like behind the scenes at one of your games? Have you played in the main tournaments with the likes of
@ronnieo147?

Behind the scenes can vary depending on what event it is. Women’s events are a little more laid back. (Apart from when your on the table) my daughter, Lauren comes with me to help me relax.

Main tour events are a little different, you can feel more tension around you generally.

I tend to take the approach of keep yourself to yourself and focus on the task at hand.
But you have similar routines, trying to eat at the right times, having little practice sessions and hopefully having a couple of people in your corner helping you stay focused and relaxed.

Staying relaxed is very important! I’m sure you have lots of people in your corner! Do you have many luxuries when you’re not playing and waiting for your match to start?

Not many luxuries as you’re normally in a certain waiting area ready to play. If it’s possible little music. Someone in your corner to talk to or a game of cards. Relax while getting in the zone.

Have you ever travelled first class to one of your events?

I’ve never travelled first class. I always look at first class though when I’m booking a flight but always go back to economy due to cost. I would love to try it one day!

Luxury travel has always intrigued me. A lot of others travel first class, I often wonder if travelling in more comfort can help reduce jet lag or just that being more comfortable in general can help players.

let’s hope one day you will get to travel first class. What do you have on your list of essentials to pack for when you’re away from home?

The first thing I have to make sure is I pack is my cue and snooker outfit, everything else I can always purchase when I’m there. I always make sure I have my lucky trainers and perfume. Being comfortable is a must and so is smelling fresh!

I always make sure I pack my phone charger/charger case.When you travel a lot you don’t always get chance to take people with you, it’s good to keep in touch with family and friends. I always look forward to FaceTime with my daughter, Lauren! Keeps my spirits high for my next game.

We can only imagine it’s hard being away from your family, especially your daughter!

Travel can be a wonderful thing to make new memories but it’s hard when you haven’t got some home comforts like your children!
